Located just outside of Jacksonville, TX, Cherokee Trace Drive-Thru Safari is the perfect destination for family fun. Experience the thrill of getting up close and personal with exotic animals from the comfort of your car. Enjoy a unique safari experience without ever having to leave your seat!

Caldwell Zoo offers a thrilling family day out with over 3,000 animals and interactive exhibits. Planning ahead can maximize your visit, as the zoo's expansiveness can typically be enjoyed in about 2 hours. Nestled in Tyler's mildly hilly terrain, expect some elevation changes. The zoo is designed for easy navigation and comfort for all visitors, ensuring everyone can connect with nature and explore its fun-filled campus.

With 3,000 animals from 200 species, Caldwell Zoo provides custom-built habitats for each resident, many of which are endangered or threatened. Conservation and genetic diversity are top priorities. Experience the charm of our reticulated giraffes up close at the feeding deck, available daily. Visit the Wild Bird Walkabout to feed free-flying parakeets and cockatiels, open March to October daily (weather permitting), and weekends only in November.
